I created this list of my favorite addons for Firefox-3.5 to have all in one place and install them from here.

Additionally I trim down the default firefox-user-interface (chrome) on low resolution PCs like netbooks to gain more space for browsing.
To do this You can use a custom "userChrome.css"-file in your firefox-profile-directory.

On Windows XP, You have to put this file in:
C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default\chrome\
On a german Windows the path looks like that:
C:\Dokument und Einstellungen\[username]\Anwendungsdaten\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default\chrome\
On Linux, this file has to be stored in:
~/.mozilla/firefox/xxxxxxxx.default/chrome/
xxxxxxxx is a random 8 character string.

Here's my custom "userChrome.css"-file:

Just save this file into the location from above (profile-folder/chrome/).


And I disable the "tab bar" if only one tab is open:
Edit --> Preferences --> Tabs --> Disable: "Always show the tab bar"


UPDATE:
It is possible to relocate the navigation toolbar, buttons, and search box to the menu bar.
Right click on toolbar -> Customize -> drag and drop items from the navigation bar to the menu bar.
And check "use small icons".

Additionally minimize the Menu with the addon "Tiny Menu" (install) to one single entry.

How to configure webDAV for apache2 ... tested on Debian/Sarge.

I use this to get access to my linux router at home via HTTP or rather HTTPS.
My main purpose is editing php-source-code directly on the webserver, but also to put some files there which I need to access some anywhere.

1. enable webdav-module:
# cd /etc/apache2/mods-enabled
box:/etc/apache2/mods-enabled# ln -s ../mods-available/dav.load

3. setup file-permissions for apache-user (www-data on Debian/Sarge) ... apache-user need write-permissions:

4. setup htaccess-login on this folder:

- create .htpasswd-userdatabase-file for this folder:
# htpasswd -c /srv/.htpasswd username

- or add "username" to an existing .htpasswd:
# htpasswd /srv/.htpasswd username

Depending on your linux- or apache-version the command might be “htpasswd2” instead of “htpasswd”.


5. add "location"-block for this folder in apache-config:

- in my case I put it in “/etc/apache2/sites-enabled/001-ssl”:

Here's how to capture whole packets with tcpdump, incl. writing of a binary-dumpfile for further analyzing in wireshark.

tcpdump -lnni eth0 -w /tmp/dumpfile -s 65535 host 123.123.123.123 and port 80
tcpdump -lnni eth0 -w /tmp/dumpfile -s 1500 host 123.123.123.123 and port 80

Explanation:
-s snaplen = packet size, 1500 max. for “normal” ethernet, 65535 to be sure the whole packet is captured
-l = Make stdout line buffered. Useful if you want to see the data while capturing it. Not really needed with binary dump, but nevermind.
-n = Don’t convert addresses (i.e., host addresses, port numbers, etc.) to names.
-i = capture on which interface
-w = write binary dump to file
host 123.123.123.123 and port 80 = filter host/ip-address and port-number

Usage: tcpdump [-aAdDeflLnNOpqRStuUvxX] [-c count] [ -C file_size ]
[ -E algo:secret ] [ -F file ] [ -i interface ] [ -M secret ]
[ -r file ] [ -s snaplen ] [ -T type ] [ -w file ]

To capture only to stdout without binary dump use:
tcpdump -s 1500 -lXvvi eth0 port 4711

To read binary-dump from file back into tcpdump
* -r = Read packets from file (which was created with the -w option). Standard input is used if file is ``-’’
tcpdump -r /tmp/dumpfile
